Make cherry pie filling by combining cherries and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently for about 5 minutes.
Mix cornstarch with a couple of tablespoon water and add in cherry mix.
Let simmer over medium heat for another five minutes until it has thickened into a jam filling consistency.
Let cool.
Preheat oven to 350°
Line a 9×9 inch square pan or a 13*9 inch square pan with parchment paper.
Place all bar ingredients into a bowl and combine until it is a soft crumbly mixture.
Take 2/3 of the mixture and pat it on the bottom of the pan.
Spread cherry filling over the mixture. Make sure that you do not add too much liquid but only use the cherry jam like filling.
Crumble the rest of the mixture over the cherries.
Bake for 30 minutes or until it is lightly golden.
Let cool before serving.
